Breaking New Ground

New Day Program Building Project
2011 marked our 40th anniversary of operations.
Over the past 40 years our numbers have fluctuated from 3 staff and 13 participants to a high of 60 participants with 8 staff. Currently we have 32 participants ranging in age from 18 – 73 years which is the absolute maximum we can support in this location. In the new facility we will be able to offer services to over 60 individuals, 75% of which are already on our wait list.
Our current location in an aged and decaying warehouse, cannot handle this influx so expansion into a new building is a necessity in order to provide quality Day Programs that meet their needs as well as the needs of their families and the community.
The upcoming applicants have significantly differing abilities and needs than our current clientele and will require very specialized programs and supports, most of which we are unable to accommodate in our present location due to its age and structural issues.
We are building a new facility from which to operate our Day Programs and to meet the increased capacity and additional programming needs of our participants. It will be approximately 10,000 sq ft in size and will allow us to meet the upcoming needs of our existing clients as well as those currently on the waitlist, and provide us with the opportunity to meet the community’s ongoing need for many years to come.
As numbers have continued to rise in the past 40 years, this will allow room for future growth. Over the past few years this area of our province has experienced a population explosion, and with the rich resources the area offers, this is sure to continue well into the future. The expanded services and programs we will be able to offer in a safe, clean, welcoming and accommodating new building will be of benefit to everyone in our community, regardless of ability.

Our Partnerships

Fundraising
Our primary funder is the Ministry of Social Services, Community Living Service Delivery. They have committed to funding the majority of this building, however, in order to secure that we must raise approximately 30% of the total cost, which is estimated to be $1.5 million. This means we need to show community support of $500,000.
While we are applying for Corporate Sponsorships, Foundation Donations, etc., we are also asking the citizens and businesses in Weyburn and area for their support.
